Las Trancas is the sleepy mountain town that is located 7 KM and a 15 minutes drive below the base of Termas de Chillan ski resort.  All more economic options such as the hotel and backpacker options such as cabins/lodges and hostels are located in Las Trancas.This is the town where some locals live and has a few restaurant options as well as the famous Snowpub that goes off on Saturdays! There is one main road that goes to Termas and back towards Chillan through Las Trancas.  All restaurants, stores,hotels are located right there on the left or the right of the road.

Mission Impossible Lodge    The MI Lodge as it is known, is one of our favorite places to stay  and you are treated very well by all the staff, especially the French owners. It is by far the best ski lodge in all of South America!   It is located in Las Trancas 5 minutes off the main road into the wilderness of the Shangri-La valley. Surrounded by the Shangri-La glacier, the Chillan Viejo and the Chillan Nuevo Volcano, you will enjoy incredible and wonderful views from sunrise to sunset. Inaugrated in June 2004, M-I Lodge is the only true lodge in the  region. The lodge has 9 large comfortable bedrooms customized with a private bathroom. In each room,  you will enjoy a beautiful view of The Andes Cordillera.  After your day, you can snuggle up in front of the central fieldstone fireplace or relax at the bar.You will also find in our living room games, magazines, TV and DVD player. Enjoy the great dinners that are of course accompanied by great Chilean wine, right in  the lodge and then hang out in the bar before  going to bed or going to the Snowpub. In the  evening, another option is to chill in the aromatic outdoor hot tubs with the natural hot springs  water while enjoying the stars.

Ecobox Andino Lodge    Ecobox Andino is a group of completely equipped cabins, with a capacity for 5 people. There is a pool, access to wi-fi and satellite television. Big windows equipped with the technology needed for a comfortable stay and enjoyment of the great views.    Inserted in a Ñirre tree forest, with a privileged location in the Las Trancas Valley allows enjoyment of the beautiful mountain landscape at any time of the year. Only 8 km from the ski resort, where snow sports can be practiced, and close to the spectacular natural wonders, offering varied alternatives for tourism in the outdoors such as trekking, walks, or horse rides; visits to cascades, ponds, natural reserves, observatories, and many other things you can enjoy.    Ecobox Andino , mountain lodges are inserted in a Ñirre tree forest. They have an innovative design that is kind to the native vegetation. The lodges were constructed from modified containers which are thermally insulated and have raised walk ways between them to lessen the wear on the native vegetation.    Taking care not to disturb even the smallest plants, Ecobox Andino seeks to conserve the native vegetation to the greatest extent possible. Containers seemed to be the best choice for the lodging accommodations. These were placed by cranes so that there would be a minimal energy output, to conserve time, and most importantly so that there would be the least deterioration of the environment. A small amount of soil compaction occurs since the containers as well as the walkways are elevated.    In addition to the walkways there are trails that lead to an area where you may build a fire safely with a minimum impact and there is a pool surrounded by a forest with a wooden deck, cascade, and illumination.    There are three Ecoboxes for lodging, each with a capacity for 5 persons. Refugio del Bosque (Forest Lodge), Refugio del Sol (Sun Lodge), and Refugio del Cielo (Sky Lodge).    The Ecoboxes are built from modified containers which give them an innovative design and are thermically insulated for a comfortable stay. They have thermo panel windows, slow combustion wood heaters, and a wood heater inserted in the wall of the dormitory. The entrance may be used to store ski equipment and fire wood for the heaters.

Los Andes Cabins    They have 10 cabins surrounded on more than 20,000 m2 of beautiful wooded land.   They offer 3 types of cabins:   Traditional Chilean “A” Frame Cabin: These cabins have withstood the test of time and still look great! These are our oldest cabins, so they're rustic and full of character. (If you prefer a more modern cabin, you should choose one of our other cabin types.) These cabins are on two floors. They have bedrooms upstairs and downstairs and are great for families with older children or adults sharing.There are two single beds in each of the upstairs rooms.The main bedroom downstairs has a double bed. These cabins are set at the back of the complex, hidden between the trees, and very private.   Classic Two Bed Cabin: Built in 2004 these have been beautifully made and designed for total comfort during winter or summer. They are equipped with two bunk beds in one room and a double bed in the main room. The floor plan below shows the basic layout, however small changes were made in the actual cabins from this architectural drawing. For example the dining table is long and rectangular with six chairs. Three Bed Cabin: These are newly built in the summer of 2009.
