El Colorado is Chile's oldest ski resort. In 1936 the first cable tow was installed just above the Hotel Posada in Farellones. There are two base areas at the ski resort. The first is on the eastern edge of the town Farellones and is best for beginner skiers. Villa Colorado is the modern base area several kilometers up the road from Farellones.
El Colorado is popular with families and race teams. |

There is less backcountry access from El Colorado than its neighbors La Parva and Valle Nevado. An area which could be explored is the long cliff area between Cono Este and the Embudo lift. This off piste run takes you down to the Valle Nevado access road where you can take a car back up. |
